Twitter and the LPGA

The LPGA is now encouraging golfers to "twitter" in the middle of their tournaments to update their fans.

1) I didnt know the LPGA had that many fans that such prompt updating was needed
2) Does more than half the fans that even watch the LPGA know what Twitter is?
3) How about concentrating on your round and focusing on winning?

It would be very odd to see Tiger Woods crush a drive down 18 one stroke down and trying to win a Major and then see him whip out his iPhone and then post "OMG. I am really nervous, i hope i can hit it on the green and make this birdie"

Look, you play to win the game. Everyone knows what situation you are in and what you need to do. Focus on playing golf, staying competitive and your next shot. No one wants to see your pink blackberry in your hand as you walk down the fairway.

Obviously the LPGA is doing anything and everything to boost its ratings and followers. This move is here just shows how desperate they are getting.
